Pixellot and Red Bull Media House Streaming Live from the Beach Volleyball Major Series in Florida

Published: Sun Mar 04 2018

Red Bull Media House is using Pixellot’s innovative automatic production technology to stream live beach volleyball action from the Beach Volleyball Major Series 2018 in Ft. Lauderdale until March 4, when the world’s best players will collect their total prize money of $600,000 USD.

For the first time, action-packed matches will be streamed live to paying BeachStream subscribers who will get exclusive live access to all tournament games, on-demand action, highlights, interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage.

Red Bull Media House has been using Pixellot’s technology to film soccer and ice hockey games in Europe. This will be the first time the two companies are working together in the United States, as well as the first time the system will be used at an international 5* beach volleyball tournament.

"When the Beach Major Series’ team came up with the idea of using the Pixellot production system, we were immediately happy to support it," says Andreas Gall, Chief Innovation Officer Red Bull Media House. "Red Bull Media House has used their technology before, and we are always keen to implement innovations in an operational environment at our events. That is how we move along in our innovation process and evaluate potential future applications. For beach volleyball, it is a total premiere, and we are looking forward to the pictures."

Pixellot’s technology is used in thousands of venues worldwide to provide automated production without any broadcast crews necessary. Once the technology is installed, finely tuned algorithms customized for each sport allow spectators to follow the action on the field – or the beach in this case.

"The popularity of beach volleyball surged after the 2016 Rio Olympics where it was one of the most watched sports," said Alon Werber, CEO at Pixellot. "The fact that subscribers are willing to pay to watch beach volleyball shows that many communities of engaged fans are happy to get high-quality production of the sports they love. We are here to fulfill their dreams, and Red Bull is the perfect partner for this journey."

Live broadcasting has long been reserved for major professional sports. Minimizing production costs, Pixellot’s fully automated production systems enable amateur clubs, schools, federations, media platforms and venues to generate live HD content to power their own digital media services, boost fan engagement and improve their coaching processes. What’s more, Pixellot footage is interactive and delivered to any device letting fans watch their favorite team from anywhere, produce their own highlight clips and share them on social networks.
