Final Call For Submissions To New County Clare Heritage Plan
The Clare Heritage Office has urged heritage groups and enthusiasts across the county to make submissions to the new Heritage Plan in advance of the deadline on Monday 16 June next.
[ClickPress, Wed Jun 11 2008] The Clare Heritage Office has received a considerable amount of submissions from the public in the interim since the formation of the new Clare Heritage Plan 2009-2013 was formally launched at a major Heritage Conference in Ennis at the end of April.
However, it is now anxious to ensure that everyone interested in the future of Clare’s Heritage has his or her say about the direction the plan takes.
According to Tomás Mac Conmara of the Clare Heritage Office, “Objectives and actions outlined in the heritage plan will form the basis for what heritage initiatives occur in County Clare over the next five years.”
He added, “We are anxious to ensure that the plan is broad ranging enough to encompass the elements that need to be addressed. The implementation of the previous heritage plan has seen a considerable amount of projects developed throughout the entire county. In developing the new plan, the people of Clare are best placed to inform what direction the Clare Heritage Plan should take and we hope that this opportunity will be availed of between now and next Monday.”
Commenting on the importance of the Heritage Plan, Cllr. Pat Hayes, Cathaoirleach of the Clare Heritage Forum said, “The Clare Heritage Forum has encouraged the implementation of the Heritage Plan through the annual Heritage Plan programme, as well as the Local Community Grant scheme. In relation to the latter, we have found that community groups who have related their project to a heritage plan action have had a higher degree of success. We wish to see a continuation and development of this trend with the new heritage plan”.
Additional information on the new Clare Heritage Plan, 2009-2013 is available from the Heritage Section of Clare County Council at 065-6821616, heritage@clarecoco.ie or www.clarecoco.ie.
Submissions should be forwarded to the Heritage Section of Clare Co. Council, Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis or by e-mail to heritage@clarecoco.ie. The closing date for receipt of submissions is Monday, 16th June 2008 at 5pm.
