Congressman Loudermilk and Senator Perdue Continue Weak Stances on Helsinki Summit

Published: Sun Jul 22 2018

On Monday July 17th, 2018 President Donald Trump held a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During this summit meeting, Presidents Trump and Putin met for several hours in private with only a pair of translators, after a press conference, during which President Trump denied Russian involvement with the 2016 election. This denial came despite: 12 indictments of Russian military officials, a Senate intelligence committee investigation, and the recommendation of the Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats. During this same press conference, President Trump stated, "I have great confidence in my intelligence people. But I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today, Dan Coats [the director of national intelligence] came to me and some others, they said they think it's Russia. I have President Putin. He just said it's not Russia. I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would be."

Several high profile Republican law makers such as: Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Senator John McCain, Senator Lindsey Graham, and Senator Bob Corker, have denounced Trump’s statements to the press at the Helsinki summit.

The Congressional Representative of Georgia’s 11th district, Barry Loudermilk had yet to release a statement, despite phone calls from his constituents asking for his position. Mia in his Washington D.C. office as of 1:30pm Tuesday, July 17th stated, "The Congressman has not released a statement at this time."

Congressman Loudermilk then appeared on an obscure news network praising the efforts of President Trump and posted this video clip on his official Facebook page.

Further, contrary to many in their party, Senator David Perdue appears to continue to ignore these clearly treasonous acts to deny the work of our own intelligence agencies and accept the word of an authoritarian ruler with an abysmal human rights record, despite clear and convincing evidence that Russia’s military meddled in the 2016 Presidential election.
