Jeff Davis, president of JDavis Architects, PLLC (www.jdavisarchitects.com), a full-service architecture, landscape architecture and interior design firm, has announced that the Chavis Heights Redevelopment received the 2008 Urban Stewardship Award at the City of Raleigh Environmental Awards. The Stewardship award recognizes a volunteer individual or organization engaged in a community building or conservation. The award, one of 10 given for sound environmental stewardship in Raleigh, was presented during a ceremony held in the Marbles Kids Museum on April 22.

Designed by JDavis, the Chavis Heights Redevelopment is a residential neighborhood of multiple housing types featuring a 60,000 square foot senior center, 40 villa apartments, 27 triplex apartments, 46 townhome apartments, a community center and a park.

The redevelopment was funded as part of a grant from The Department of Housing and Urban Development and included the demolition of a public housing project built in 1947.
