Montalbano Homes of Arizona assists Valley Homeowner through Rebuilding Together

[ClickPress, Mon Jun 23 2008] Montalbano Homes has made an elderly Valley homeowner’s dream come true. The company worked through Rebuilding Together in rehabilitating the home of 78-year-old Margaret Howard in Scottsdale, Arizona. This heart-warming act was a part of the company’s effort to give back to the community by helping the aged and the disabled with their home renovation projects.

What started out a simple list of things to do around the house soon became a complete remodeling of the 40-year-old home. Initially, all Howard wanted was to repair a few rattling windows, fix the shower panels, the back door and the cabinets. From April 2-7, 2008, Vice President of Construction, Montalbano Homes, Mike Romelfanger led a group of more than a dozen volunteers who took the repairs a step further and went on to rehabilitate the whole home.

“We had the opportunity to address the items on Margaret’s list and anything else we could arrange to complete in the short time we had,” said Romlefanger. “I decided we should gut the kitchen and bathrooms and give the house an update.”
That update included:
• new kitchen cabinets, countertops, sink with disposal, and backsplash;
• new bathroom countertops and tub surrounds;
• new shower doors and handicap grab bars;
• new plumbing valves, sinks, and trim;
• new back door and storage area door;
• new siding at carport/storage area;
• new motion sensor security exterior lights;
• new landscaping and drip system;
• new exterior paint;
• new carpet in bedrooms.
In the end, the 78-year-old Howard was presented with the “newest” house in the neighborhood.

The rehabilitation of the Howard home was conducted through Rebuilding Together, a national charitable organization that assists low income, elderly, and disabled homeowners through home renovation and repair. A variety of Phoenix-area vendors teamed with Montalbano Homes to provide the materials and labor to complete this project. Several employees of Montalbano Homes readily volunteered for this noble cause.
