Urban Wear Market Reaches Rural Retailers
The urban and hip hop wear market is reaching new retail segments that were once reserved for more traditional clothing styles.
[ClickPress, Fri Jan 20 2006] The urban wear market has been enjoying strong growth as major retailers devote increasing retail space to it.
In contrast to the past, major department stores now feature prominently urban and hip hop brands such as Ecko, G-Unit, Rocawear, and FUBU.
Responding to the popularity of rap performers such as 50 Cent, retailers have been stocking their shelves with artist and music inspired urban labels.
What is now changing is the reach of the popularity of the urban wear market.
“My wholesale business has received a sharp increase in the number of requests from rural areas,” said Donny Lowy, the CEO of http://www.closeoutexplosion.com
According to Donny, his wholesale business has received numerous requests for hip hop and urban style clothing from retailers whose merchandise in the past consisted of more traditional clothing styles.
In response to this demand wholesalers including http://www.closeoutexplosion.com have started offering brand name hip hop and urban clothing such as Ecko, G-Unit, Rocawear, and Lady Enyce.
The growing popularity of hip hop and urban wear clothing seems to strongly correspond to the popularity of the rap and hip hop music scene.
If the past is any indication, fads go out as fast as they come in, so many observers are watching to see what will unfold.
The question on the minds of clothing retailers is if the hip hop and urban clothing market will become a permanent clothing category, or just another “bellbottom” phase.
