Igloo Vision, the immersive workspace company, and educational platform creators, Seymour & Lerhn have partnered to offer immersive learning experiences to providers of primary education. This means that there is now a library of high-quality, immersive educational content available for teachers using Igloo immersive spaces.

Based in the UK, with offices in USA, Canada, and Australia, and a demo centre opened earlier this year in mainland Europe, Igloo Vision is a global leader in shared immersive workspaces. These immersive spaces have been installed in over 40 educational institutions around the world. Teaching in an Igloo immersive space allows whole classes to experience immersive content that would otherwise be experienced via headsets or devices such as tablets, smartphones, or laptops.

The Seymour & Lerhn platform offers a library of immersive and interactive virtual tours created in line with the UK National Curriculum. Pupils can sink into the WW1 trenches, shrink down to the size of a dust mite or get up close and personal with bacteria, travel through the ages and see the changes in a typical British home.

The platform is accessed via the Igloo Web application, an immersive web browser developed by Igloo Vision that takes any web-based content and puts it into a shared immersive space. The Seymour & Lerhn content is accessed through a user-friendly web dashboard meaning Igloo-ready content can be triggered quickly and intuitively.

"It's very important to us at Igloo that our technology is user-friendly and accessible, and that goes for the content as well," said Theo Penty, Head of Educational Business Development EMEA at Igloo Vision. "Teachers often worry that getting hold of or creating immersive content for classes is difficult. This integration with Seymour & Lerhn means that teachers have a wealth of content at their fingertips, with plenty of support to get the most out of it with full lesson plans, worksheets, quizzes, and more. We're excited to bring innovative learning experiences and teaching methods within the reach of more primary schools."

Charlie Power at Seymour & Lerhn said, "The Seymour & Lerhn platform offers a whole host of immersive content that is device-agnostic - so pupils can access it across whiteboards, tablets, phones, with learners' journeys continuing across all of these devices and beyond with fun and engaging follow up activities and teaching resources included in the package."

"And we're really pleased that we can now offer a whole new way for this content to be experienced in Igloo's shared immersive spaces. It's a powerful way to teach because learning is inherently a shared experience," Charlie concluded.

As well as companies, research centres and universities worldwide, Igloo Vision systems have been installed in schools as far afield as Sydney, Australia and (for Knox Grammar School) and Texas, USA (for Richardson Independent School District). Closer to home, they have been used for pioneering learning initiatives by the likes of the Science Museum Group and the Royal Academy of Science. Now, with this new partnership, the companies believe there will be a more compelling case for British schools to benefit from immersive spaces.
