Dr. Alice H. Cash, a clinical musicologist from Louisville, KY, reports that the sons of Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, are hoping that it will. They are playing Mozart and Israeli folk music at his bedside around the clock. They say that Mozart was his favorite composer and that considerable scientific research exists suggesting that Mozart has healing powers. Dr. Cash cautiously concurs. She was interviewed last week by the Louisville Courier-Journal and states that because Mozart's music is highly organized and structured, it is predictable harmonically and melodically. Because the melodies and harmonies are beautiful and enjoyable to most people, it allows people to relax better and when the body is relaxed, it's natural healing abilities can work more efficiently.
