[ClickPress, Thu Jan 26 2006] PMI (Practice Management Institute), a leading provider of medical office continuing education, announces it’s National Conference for Healthcare Professionals will be held on May 18 & 19, 2006 in San Antonio, TX.

“This conference is jam-packed with information critical to the physician’s office. Topics such as: ‘EMRs – Should you Implement a Paperless System?’, ‘Pay For Performance and Consumer Driven Healthcare’ and ‘Making Sense of the New Competitive Acquisition Plan’ highlight issues affecting the physicians practice in 2006” says Lynn Ballard, Conference Chair.

Guest presenters include Stan Luke, Deputy Chief, U.S. District Attorney’s Office, Civil Division Department of Justice and Michael Brown, Editorial Consultant for Medical Economics. Round table discussions, customized breakout sessions and networking luncheons are designed to promote group interaction with conference participants and faculty members.

For 25 years PMI has taught physicians and medical office professionals the latest in coding, reimbursement and practice management. PMI classes are currently presented in 400 of the nation’s leading hospitals, health care systems, colleges and medical societies. PMI also provides the following three professionals certifications: Certified Medical Coder (CMC), Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM), and Certified Medical Insurance Specialist (CMIS).

In 2004, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) named PMI, along with AHIMA and AAPC as example coder certification programs that could be utilized to fulfill its coding certification requirement of Medicare Contractors. The requirement stems from implementation guidelines for the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and modernization Act of 2003 (MMA). This recognition reinforces PMI’s position as a top three provider of certification for medical office staff.
