France's Cosmetic Valley Network At HBA Global Expo In NYC Next Month (Y071)

COSMETIC VALLEY, PREMIER PERFUME-COSMETICS INDUSTRY NETWORK IN FRANCE, AT HBA GLOBAL EXPO IN NEW YORK THIS SEPTEMBER

[ClickPress, Thu Aug 21 2008] The Cosmetic Valley industry cluster coordinates cosmetics companies, research centers and training institutes committed to a partnership approach based on innovation and international market capture. Supported by regional authorities, it aims to help enhance the reputation of “Made in France” luxury and encourage other companies to set up in the region. Cosmetic Valley strives to enhance the cluster’s international reputation as the premier perfume-cosmetics network, enabling its members to gain better access to export markets. As part of this goal, the cluster will be at the HBA Global Expo in New York City from September 9 to 11 at booth 1603, to develop international partnerships like that of a recently signed agreement with the Japanese cluster Hokuriku Life Care, and to promote the cluster members' expertise in the perfume-cosmetics field.

Cosmetic Valley spans three central French regions, covering nearly 200 miles, radiating from Paris. It features a vertical integration approach with over 300 companies in the perfume-cosmetics sector working in the luxury "made in France" industry. There are about a dozen major brands producing the flagship products of the beauty industry including Chanel, L'oréal, Shiseido, and more.

The cluster focuses its activities in the following areas of the cosmetic-perfume sector: skin care (anti-aging and sun proctection), new-generation materials (bioplastics for packaging), container-contents interaction, new non-invasive diagnostic tools (ultrasounds to see products' results), and sensory pleasure (new textures and scents to improve customer satisfaction when using cosmetic). This past May, Cosmetic Valley hosted a conference about "cosmetotextiles," which are textiles affixed with microencapsulated cosmetic active ingredients. At the end of last year, the cluster installed the first European research and analysis lab devoted to cosmetotextiles.

Keeping current with the strident environmental issues, Cosmetic Valley has committed itself and its members to eco-responsibility and sustainable development in the areas of product design, manufacturing methods, fighting/offsetting greenhouse gases, and industrial building design (by adhering to current HQE standards). The cluster will host a conference on sustainable development in the beauty industry in 2009.

This is a unique reservoir for specialist human resources in various businesses in the cosmetics industry from growing aromatic plants, developing active principles, creating and formulating, manufacturing perfumes and cosmetics, control, testing and analysis laboratories, advertising and design, plastic injection, packaging, distribution logistics, etc. Cosmetic Valley boasts a range of resources required by research and industry in the sector. Thanks to its dynamic network, Cosmetic Valley promotes and deploys synergy within the cluster. The cluster helps to share skills and supports companies to help establish a positive environment to help growth and job creation.

Four universities (Orleans, Rouen, Tours, Versailles/Saint Quentin-en-Yvelines) and about 136 training centers (ISIPCA, IMT, ESCEM-Tours, Blois engineering school, etc.) have joined the cluster to boost expertise and networking. The outstanding concentration of research and training skills brought together in the Cosmetic Valley campus offers the cluster major assets to implement a strategy of innovation as the primary vector for growth and competitiveness in the beauty industry.
