These include a computer mouse that recognises the fingerprint of the machine user!

“Computers represent a very valuable physical asset, but their contents are usually much more valuable – and even irreplaceable – as anyone who has had their machine stolen will know.

It is possible to control computers using passwords, but many users overlook this until it is too late. Where they do exist, passwords are often written down or unwittingly given away.

The latest devices available, use the fingerprints of their users to control access - and are not at all expensive in relation to the disruption and potential embarrassment caused by theft and/or unauthorised access. Installation also strengthens the steps that organisations may already have in place to meet their obligations under the Data Protection Act.

We are now providing users with individual mouse devices that will recognise their fingerprints and will not allow access to anyone else. If the mouse is removed, access to the computer is denied.”
