BCG Big Tour hits the mark with manufacturers

Published: Mon Nov 24 2008

Leading manufacturers have overwhelmingly voted BCG’s Big Tour 2008 a resounding success, with increased footfalls reported, a high quality of visitor and plenty of business being done at all of BCG’s chosen venues across the country.

The Big Tour hit Bolton’s Reebok Stadium in September, followed by Elland Road in Leeds, the Ricoh Stadium in Coventry, Bristol’s Ashton Gate, Twickenham Rugby Stadium, St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, and finished at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

Marion Morton of Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, said: "We were impressed with last year’s Big Tour and committed to doing it again this year. We were not disappointed and the quality and accessibility of the venues led to a good turnout and an excellent quality of visitor. It is one of the few national forums of its type for us to meet trade customers face to face and get feedback on new products, and we were pleased to support BCG and their customers again."

A de-brief meeting was held on 4 November to give all the manufacturers a detailed feedback which can be used to shape what format the Big Tour will take in 2009 and beyond.

Franke’s Caroline Hardman commented: "BCG do a great job in planning and executing the Big Tour, which is extremely well organised and promoted, and gives the manufacturers a great platform to meet key customers out in the regions. We experienced a healthy interest in our stand at all eight venues and were generally very pleased with all aspects of the Big Tour."

The Big Tour brought together over 23 of the bathroom and kitchen industry's biggest names. The free trade show brought with it exciting new products, the opportunity to meet suppliers easily and informally and exclusive show offers, along with more fun aspects - like free stadium tours and the chance to win prizes such as signed sports memorabilia.

Julie Butcher, organiser of the Big Tour and Marketing Manager for BCG, said: "A lot of energy and planning went into delivering the Big Tour, so we’re really pleased that the manufacturers found it worthwhile and that the feedback from everyone involved has been great. We’re unsure exactly what format the 2009 Big Tours will take; but it will be even bigger and better than 2008 and we will be reviewing all the comments from the manufacturers, hoping to make a full announcement on the Big Tour 09 in January."
