StraighterLine (www.straighterline.com), a new online education solution that provides students a high quality, better supported, and lower cost way to obtain college credits through regionally accredited colleges and universities, has announced that Charter Oak State College will be a partner college. Partner colleges are accredited institutions that provide college credit for students who successfully complete courses from StraighterLine. StraighterLine selected Charter Oak State College for its rigorous and high quality degree programs, as well as for its commitment to individual learners and their needs.

Charter Oak State College is a member of the Connecticut State System of Higher Education and regionally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. It offers four general studies degrees, Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science, as well as professional certificate programs and more than 180 online courses – more than any other public college in the state of Connecticut. Established in 1973, Charter Oak today averages annual enrollment of approximately 2,000 students, representing all 50 states and nine different countries. The school’s administrative offices are located in New Britain, Conn.

Students who take a StraighterLine course can now select Charter Oak State College to award credit for College Algebra, English Composition, Accounting I and Economics I. Students can continue their studies and pursue their degree through this college, or they can transfer those credits to non-partner colleges that recognize StraighterLine’s partner’s courses as equivalent programs.

Currently StraighterLine offers six entry-level college courses, including College Algebra, English Composition I, Accounting I, Accounting II, Economics I: Macroeconomics and Economics II: Microeconomics, and two developmental courses, with more planned. StraighterLine’s list of affiliated partner schools includes the following regionally accredited institutions:

• Fort Hays State University (www.fhsu.edu)
• Jones International University (jonesinternational.edu)
• Potomac College (www.potomac.edu)
• Grand Canyon University (www.gcu.edu)
• Ellis University (http://ellisuonline.com)
• Charter Oak State College (www.charteroak.edu)
