Traditional brass band thrills Maynard guests

Published: Mon Dec 15 2008

Peak District hotel and restaurant The Maynard was packed to the rafters with the sounds of another stunning performance from Hathersage Brass Band this week.

The band performed a number of old favourites from Burt Bacharach and Cliff Richard as well as a host of Christmas carols. The band did their utmost to ensure that guests got into the Christmas spirit by taking audience requests for their favourite Christmas tunes. Halfway through the performance, guests enjoyed a traditional pie and pea supper followed by festive coffee and mince pies.

Paul Downing, The Maynard’s Director said:" We are really pleased with the popularity of the Hathersage Brass Band evenings and are delighted to be able to support these talented local musicians. I also sat down and enjoyed the performance with friends and it was great to see hotel guests and locals of all ages enjoying the Christmas carol sing along. The Brass Band is an important part of British rural village heritage, and I believe the support of these events shows we are all keen to make sure we do not lose brass bands from our culture."

Guests to the Maynard can enjoy two more performances from Hathersage Brass Band scheduled for Monday December 15 and 22, at 7.30pm. The tickets are reasonably priced at £14.00 per head, which includes entertainment, pie and pea supper, followed by mince pies and coffee.
