A spectacular gathering of classic Maserati sports and grand touring cars took place in Ayrshire, Scotland this weekend, 18/19 March 2006.

The event was the first official meeting of the Maserati Club in Scotland for many years. The Maserati Club is an association of Maserati owners and enthusiasts which was set up in 1972.

Around 15 Maserati models graced the roads of Ayrshire, predominantly classics of the 1960s and 70s including the Ghibli, Indy and Merak.

The event was organised by Norman Geddes, senior partner with Ayrshire solicitors Frazer Coogans, and was supported by Maserati dealers Graypaul of Edinburgh who also displayed a range of current Maserati models including the Coupe, Spyder and Quattroporte.

The main event of the weekend was the Maserati Club lunch on Sunday, the first in Scotland for several years. It took place at Kirkbride House near Maybole, the home of Norman Geddes and his wife Katrina.

There was also a club dinner on Saturday evening at the Enterkine Country House, Annbank near Ayr.

Event organiser Norman Geddes is the owner of two Maserati cars - a classic Indy and a modern Spyder.

Norman commented: "Maserati are once again leaders in the production of fine GT cars. It has been a delight and a rare opportunity in Scotland to see these modern cars alongside their illustrious predecessors. We are most grateful to Graypaul for their support of this event."
