NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – Horning’s Hideout has been selected to host the first annual "Shakedown Campout and Music Festival," expected to become one of the great annual summer music events in the northwest. The two-day event will be held on Fri. and Sat., August 26 and 27 this summer.

"The Horning’s festival site is a magical place away from the city bustle, surrounded by rolling hills, enchanted woodlands, and glistening lakes. It’s a festival paradise with an intimate atmosphere," said event organizer Hal Abramson, president of Stylus Shows, Inc.

For those who have been disappointed by all-day traffic jams to get to a music event, and then end up needing binoculars to see the bands on stage, the "Shakedown" will be a real pleasure.

There will be 15 name jam bands appearing, with initial bookings for Friday, Aug. 26:, Sage Francis, The Big Wu, Global Funk, and Big Island Shindig. On Saturday, Aug. 27: Michael Franti and Spearhead, Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons, Robert Walters Heavy Organ Band, Benevento & Russo, and Flowmotion. Up to three rounds of artist bookings will be needed to fill up the 23 hours of live music scheduled.

One large stage is planned so a festival-goer can see every act. A late night acoustic gathering and strolling jam-minstrels late night in the woods within the festival is also in the works. Shakedown Radio 90.1FM will allow festival–goers to listen to live performances, keep up to the minute with all festival happenings and hear some archival performances from festivals past, all in the comfort of their campsite or vehicle.

In addition to a weekend of great live music, the festival will also feature great food, micro-brews, showers, swimming, a well-secured event with both tent and RV camping. Details are on the web site at www.ShakedownFest.com.

"Shakedown" will be a great end-of-summer event for the fortunate 5,000 people who move fast to get tickets early. A limited number of first level tickets, which include camping, are priced at a reasonable $79. An additional 500 one-day tickets will be made available at a lower price for Saturday only. With Spearhead appearing on Saturday, tickets are expected to go fast.

For the first time on any festival promotion, the first 500 ticket orders made on-line or by phone will receive a Florida/ Bahamas getaway and cruise. The details are on the web site at www.ShakedownFest.com. This is not a contest but a straight giveaway. The promoter is associated with the travel industry in Florida and is able to make this remarkable offer through his industry connections.

Campers may stake out their site when gates open at 9 a.m. on Fri., Aug. 26, and may sleep it off Sunday, Aug. 28, until 12 noon. RVs are welcome, and accompanied kids under 12 are free.

Stylus Shows plans to make The Shakedown Campout and Music Festival an annual event the last weekend in August. The promoters have recruited an experienced west-coast production staff and promise a quality stage production.

The "Shakedown" practices recycling and conservation, so attendees are asked to use the recycling containers to help deserving Boy Scouts go on trips they would not otherwise be able to afford.
