Local pupils star on Peak catwalk

Published: Mon Mar 02 2009

Derbyshire teenagers took to the catwalk last Thursday at Peak Village and contributed to the
glamour of a prom and cruise wear fashion event, where over £150 was raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care. The fashion show, which was free to attend, took place in the Courtyard at Peak Village to launch Alexara’s new range of prom dresses. Several local businesses contributed to the event by donating prizes for the charity raffle or providing free services which helped to make the event possible.

Guests were greeted to a glass of bubbly from local vintner, John Hattersley, and canapés were provided by Massarella’s restaurant of Peak Village. The audience was entertained with a lively and colourful display of prom dresses and classic and contemporary tuxedos, provided by Moss Bros of Westfield Shopping Centre in Derby. The prom dresses and tuxedos were modeled by pupils from Derbyshire schools: Deincourt Community School; Brookfield Community School; Parkside Community School; Tupton Hall School; and Blithbridge High School. More experienced models also took to the catwalk modeling a range of cruise dresses and formal wear for men.

Amanda of Alive beauty salon at Peak Village spent many hours in the run up to the event perfecting the models make–up, ready for their stint on the catwalk. Patricia Lane of Cherish florists in Darley Dale did her bit by providing stunning flower displays.

Once all the dresses and suits had been shown, the models enjoyed a few more moments of the celebrity lifestyle as they were photographed alongside the limousine brought to Peak Village by Jo-Lo Limousines. Meanwhile the charity raffle prize winners were announced and winners took home prizes kindly donated by nearby East Lodge, Jo-Lo Limousines, The Maynard, John Hattersley Wines and The Toys of Yesteryear Exhibition, plus other Peak Village retailers.

Peak Village will be hosting another fashion show later in the year which will show a varied range of high street fashions and outdoor clothing. If you are interested in becoming a model then please contact Katayune Jacquin on 07590 634717.
