The Cemetery of the Year Awards 2005 is re-launching its search for Britain’s best burial ground and stiff competition is guaranteed.

The Competition, now into its 8th year, aims to increase public awareness of the important role that cemeteries can play within the community.

Cemeteries, crematoria and burial grounds are assessed on a wide range of criteria including the level of maintenance, available facilities, burial choice, imaginative landscaping and community involvement.

Despite the awards’ name the competition is open to all burial sites from cemeteries, crematoria and churchyards to pet cemeteries and green burial sites. Everyone has the chance to become the Cemetery of the Year.

Jessica Borton, awards administrator, says "we reached a record number of entries last year and we hope that this year will be even more successful. We are now getting all different types of burial grounds entering and representing their corner of the industry."

The Cemetery of the Year is open to all British cemeteries, burial grounds, churchyards or crematoria. Those wishing to enter should contact Jessica Borton on 0207 463 2020 or jessica@oneismore.com
