Specially designed for families looking for a fun day out, the Castles and Kings themed treasure hunt can be downloaded from Red Funnel's Treasure Island page - a Podcast version is also available for treasure seekers who prefer to listen to the clues on their iPod or MP3 player whilst following the hunt.

Free to enter and with excellent prizes on offer, including the latest iPod Video and a New Year’s self-catering break to the Isle of Wight, the treasure hunt provides another great reason to visit the Isle of Wight in 2006.

The Great Isle of Wight Treasure Hunt takes visitors on a history-packed tour around the north of the island visiting both historic sites and popular attractions. Motorists or cyclists completing the 25-mile clue-trail will discover more about the Island’s colourful history and experience some of its beautiful landscape and scenic coastline. With a pair of sensible shoes and a faithful map the clues will keep treasure hunters on track.

Once the answers to the 12 clues have been found they can be emailed to treasure@redfunnel.co.uk or sent by post to arrive by 31 July 2006. All correct entries will go into a prize draw to win the much sought after, Apple iPod Video 30GB and an annual draw to win a week’s self-catering break over New Year, staying in a lighthouse keeper’s cottage at St. Catherines Lighthouse on the Isle of Wight. The prize is for five nights from 30 Dec 2006 and includes up to 5 people plus return vehicle ferry crossing between Southampton and East Cowes.

Only a short hop from the mainland, the Isle of Wight is an ideal destination for a daytrip. Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry service from Southampton to East Cowes operates hourly in both directions whilst the foot passenger only Red Jet Hi-Speed service from Southampton to West Cowes takes just 22 minutes. Day return fares to the Isle of Wight for a car and up to four people start from £29.98 when booked online at least the day before departure.
