Sharjah Islamic Bank is participating in Careers UAE, a career fair aimed at recruiting local employees in the private sector. The Career Fair, the biggest of its kind in the UAE, will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from the 16th – 18th May 2005. The bank’s stand at the exhibition has been designed to reflect the bank’s new corporate identity and vision.

This will be the fourth exhibition attended by SIB this year, and is part of the bank’s ongoing emaratisation strategy. In collaboration with Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, the bank’s human resources department has developed and implemented an aggressive emaratisation strategy aimed at providing attractive career opportunities for UAE National graduates in such areas as Branch Management, Retail Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking and Quality Assurance.

As part of an internship program, potential employees are recruited through Tamnia and are trained extensively by the bank for 3 months. Employees are continuously evaluated to monitor their progress, and extensive research is done to ensure that the best possible, and most competitive, compensation programs are implemented in order to motivate employees and enhance their productivity.

"I believe that Sharjah Islamic Bank is on the right path to achieving the goals set through our intensive emiratisation policy. SIB values its employees above all and believes in the potential of the young national community. As such, we realize that in order to achieve our goals, we must work from within", Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Amiri, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at SIB.

In a step to improve the quality of SIB employees, the bank will be holding a workshop at the end of the month, focusing on customer service excellence. The day-long workshop, which will take place once a week for a duration of 3 weeks, will be attended by 360 employees who will be participating in programs specifically designed to motivate employees and enhance internal relations.
