Joan Siefert Rose, president of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) (www.cednc.org), a private, nonprofit organization that promotes entrepreneurial efforts in the Triangle region of North Carolina, has announced the next installment of its popular STREAK program, to be held Thursday, Sept. 10. STREAK is designed to assist early-stage, high-growth life sciences and technology companies in preparing for and reaching fundraising goals through the critique of pitch presentations by a seasoned panel of investors, entrepreneurs and marketing experts.

Presenting will be Dr. Eric L. Buckland, director, president and CEO of Bioptigen (www.bcentral.com), a Research Triangle Park optical imaging technology company. Bioptigen’s in vivo optical imaging systems enable real-time non-invasive imaging of internal tissue microstructure, advancing critical applications in drug development, genetics research, tissue engineering, and medical vision.

Panelists include Jeff Clark of Aurora Funds; Joe Kalinowski of Trilogy Associates; Tom Livingstone of Scale Finance; Chris Price of LifeScience Consultancy; Ed Whitehorne, entrepreneur and chairman of FHI; and Bill Wofford of Hutchison Law Group.

One of CED’s most popular and valuable offerings, STREAK provides members the opportunity to submit their business plan and investor pitch for consideration to present before a custom-built expert panel. The panelists are hand-picked to address the specific needs of each company by providing feedback on strategy, business advice, funding options and additional relevant contacts. STREAK is sponsored by Hutchison Law Group and Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP.

STREAK is a closed-door session opportunity that is only available to CED members and takes place on the second Thursday afternoon of each month. Of the 12 companies selected to present before the panels, CED will select the most notable presenters to showcase at a January event. For details on entry criteria and the application process, CED members should e-mail their business plan and other relevant information to program coordinators Bob Pickens at bpickens@cednc.org or Dhruv Patel at dpatel@cednc.org.
