The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University has announced a slate of more than 90 workshops and trainings designed for staff, board, and volunteers of nonprofit organizations.
Beginning in September and running through June, The Nonprofit Center will offer a wide array of workshops, trainings, and in-depth certificate programs in the areas of board and leadership development, communications and marketing, financial management, fundraising, human resources, and planning and evaluation, to provide professional development to the novice, as well as the seasoned professional within the region’s nonprofits.
"In addition to our popular line-up of core programs, we are also adding programs on the basis of trends and interests in the nonprofit sector," said Laura Otten, Ph.D., director of The Nonprofit Center.
"This year, for example," Otten said, "we’re introducing a workshop on succession planning, as 67 percent of nonprofit executive directors have indicated their intentions to leave their current positions by 2010, but less than 10 percent of organizations have succession plans to replace them, " she said.
"We also add new formats to address evolving needs within nonprofits, "Otten added. "Our Tricks of the Trade sessions enable nonprofits to learn directly from high-level industry experts on image audits and media relations, and other relevant subjects. Our B/ED and Breakfast series will bring together executive directors and board members for candid, unprecedented discussions from both sides of the leadership equation," she said.
Details on The Nonprofit Center’s schedule of programs are available in a printed catalog and may also be accessed on their website at www.lasallenonprofitcenter.org. Their interactive website enables individuals to search for subjects of interest, register and pay online, and even apply for matching scholarship funds.
