SALT LAKE CITY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL May 18. Dr. I-Net is a leading provider of personal health record solutions to consumers and providers. Mr. Harish Kapoor, CEO of Dr. I-Net represented in the TEPR 2005 mock trial as defense attorney. The mock trial was conducted by Gordon Apple, who presided as a judge.

Trial was primarily focused at Permanence, data security and functionality of EMR. Jury seemed to have equally divided on paper based records and EMR. Distinguished panel of expert witnesses made their cases for and against the EMR. Peter Waegemann, CEO of Medical Record Institute defined the process, goals and objectives of this trial as well provided witness for defense.

Court was open for amicus curare. There were more witnesses lined up for defense, who believed that it is just the right time to adopt EMR as every other sector has already been automated. Expert witnesses established that an EMR is a process, where different logistics must be integrated and managed accordingly to get best out of this application.
Harish Kapoor along with his prosecutor counterpart Mr. Chris Hobson recommended that:

• Healthcare Court should be instituted to hear cases and build case law for elctronic medium.
• Payers provide incentives to providers to deploy EMR and discounted premium to members for taking charge of their health thru EMR based disease management
• Government provide tax incentive to payers and providers for EMR adoption
• EMR education be provided in Medical School as well thru continuing medical education (CME) to practicing physicians
• EMR adoption panel be created to advance the retention procedures and security plans
• Consumers must be empowered to take charge of their health

"We are thrilled that an independent, industry-recognized jury and panel of experts
selected by Medical Record Institute are debating on the issues of work flow and EMR adoption," said Robert Weeks, Director of Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston TX. "The trial affirms our strategy to put our patient data on computers before the storm Allison hit our hospital in 2001. The hospital suffered $500 million damage and lost all paper based data in that storm. However all the electronic based records revived?
