Dr. Robert Littlejohn, head of school at Trinity Academy of Raleigh (, a preK-12 college preparatory school community located in North Raleigh, has announced that the school will hold its third annual Service of Lessons & Carols on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wake Forest Baptist Church, located at 107 E. South Ave. in Wake Forest. Established in England, the tradition of the "Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols" is an adaptation of an earlier service performed at Cambridge University. Students from Kindergarten to 12th grade participate to remind the community of the true meaning of Christmas through song and scripture.

"We are excited to host the Service of Lessons and Carols," said Dr. Littlejohn. "We look forward to sharing this tradition with others and invite the community to join us in celebrating the holidays through Christmas carols."

- Cambridge University first held the service in 1918 in the Chapel of Kings College for the university community and the City of Cambridge. The service was broadcast by radio in 1928 and has continued to be internationally aired for nearly 80 years.

- An additional holiday performance will take place at The Cypress of Raleigh on Monday, Dec. 14, when the elementary school choir will sing.
