Norman Egloff, third grader at Delphi Academy of Florida, was recently recognized as the Florida State Champion in the National Handwriting Contest.

The National Handwriting Contest, sponsored by Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers, the leading publisher of handwriting materials, recognizes state and national champions in a contest that evaluates handwriting legibility.

As State Champion, Egloff, his teacher Lucy Hughes and Delphi Academy Headmaster Colin Taufer received engraved wooden pens, a special award certificate and a $50 gift certificate for Zaner-Bloser materials.

Egloff will go on to compete against other State Champions for the title of National Champion in the third grade. A Grand National Champion is selected from all entries.

For the past fourteen years Zaner-Bloser has sponsored the National Handwriting Contest to emphasize the importance of developing good handwriting skills. This year, more than 140,000 students participated in the contest nationwide.

Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers, founded in 1888, is the nation's leading publisher of handwriting programs for students in grades K-9 and is the handwriting program that Delphi Academy uses.
