"The combined resources of AST and Macro Sensors offer the sensor market hundreds of years of product and technology experience in both LVDT and pressure sensor applications," notes Karmjit S. Sidhu, AST Vice President of Business Development. "With AST’s involvement in Macro Sensors’ future, the joint companies can forge ahead to introduce new and enhanced sensor products to the market."

Macro Sensors (www.macrosensors.com) will continue to operate under its own "brand" name from its existing facilities in Pennsauken, New Jersey without interruption. No management changes are anticipated. Macro Sensors manufactures innovative LVDT-based linear and rotary sensors, gaging probes, support electronics and accessories in providing complete measurement solutions for both OEM and end-user applications.

AST designs, develops, manufactures and markets state-of-the-art, high performance sensors incorporating Micro Electro Mechanical Structures ("MEMS") and is rapidly becoming recognized as an innovative leader in the pressure sensor industry.

"This is another significant milestone in AST’s rapid growth," explains Richard E. Tasker, AST Chief Executive Officer. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to incorporate Macro Sensors and its fine line of LVDT-based products into the AST portfolio of pressure sensors and switches. As the two product lines are very complementary to each other, we expect this merger to provide significant benefit to our customers."

About AST

AST manufactures state-of-the-art, MEMS-based pressure sensors, transducers, and transmitters that offer the best price-performance ratio in the industry. Common applications of AST sensor products are in industrial OEM, hydraulic systems, fuel cells, medical gases, HVAC/R, refrigeration (ammonia, Freon, CO2), oil & gas exploration and production, and off-road vehicles. By combining exotic metals and AST’s exclusive, proprietary Krystal Bond™ Technology (an advanced process in which inorganic materials are molecularly diffused onto a metallic surface in the presence of certain gases), AST can produce high-performance strain gauge pressure sensors that support the specialized needs of key niche markets. Many AST products are UL listed as intrinsically safe and certified for explosion-proof required environments. Some of the world’s most highly respected industrial Fortune 500 corporations have tested and now use AST products in a wide range of critical and harsh environments.
