Pepped Web Services launches, a new Middle East and North Africa search engine with Thumb

UAE-based internet marketing and design company Pepped Web Services has introduced, a new search engine for the Middle East and North Africa ( draws on some of the internet’s most powerful resources, including Netscape’s Open Directory Project and ‘Thumbshot’ website previews provided by Canada-based Smartdevil Inc.

"We wanted to keep’s overall design and user experience as straightforward as possible, and we’re confident we’ve done just that," explained Pepped Web Services CEO George Hopkin. "This is not a community portal, it’s purely a directory of sites relevant to the Middle East and North Africa, with the opportunity to search the wider directory for more than this if required."

The Open Directory Project is the largest, most comprehensive human-edited directory of the Web. It is constructed and maintained by a vast, global community of volunteer editors.

Thumbshots are thumbnail screenshots of web pages that allow you to visualise web sites or preview links before clicking. is an open initiative by Smartdevil, the leader in web preview technology.
