Fed–up with vast white spaces, functionalism and minimalist design? Travel Intelligence, the hotel website founded by AA Gill, has detected a move away from minimalism towards "maximalist chic" and has increased their portfolio of hotels for those who embrace colour and fun and even some artful, stylish clutter. These include:

Bohemian Spirit in New York
Even Ian Schrager, the King of Mimimalism is moving on. His new hotel The Gramercy Park Hotel, which opened on Lexington Avenue in New York last month, is decorated in a "bohemian spirit" and features "organised chaos". Each of the 185 rooms is different and decorated in vivid colours with a mixture of art, furnitiure and objects from a variety of cultures, together with hand tufted rugs and velvet drapery and original creations by Julian Schnabel and Maarten Baas.

Prices for a room with Travel start from £300 plus taxes, with complimentary breakfast offered until the end of October.
