Second Chance Pet Adoptions Participates In 2010 Great Human Race

Second Chance Pet Adoptions ( has announced its participation in the Great Human Race for the second year in a row. The race, which will be held on Saturday, March 27 in Durham, is a community fundraising event organized to support local nonprofits. Participants can choose to raise money for any nonprofit, school or faith based group that has registered for the event. The race is comprised of a 5K competitive run as well as a 5K community walk through downtown Durham.

Participants who register with Second Chance Pet Adoptions are given the opportunity to select a cat or dog out of the nearly 200 supported by the program, and directly sponsor that animal. The money raised by a participant will benefit his or her specific animal by providing the necessary funds for food, vaccinations and medical care.

"We are thankful for the opportunity to participate in the Great Human Race for the second year in a row," said Kristine Mayberry, president of Second Chance Pet Adoptions. "The money and awareness that is raised through this event will benefit countless animals within our program that are in need of a forever home."
