The biggest football event in the world takes place this summer in South Africa and to celebrate, official World Cup sponsor Continental Tyres has launched the Continental 2010 World Cup Game Predictor as a free iPhone app. Now you can put your football knowledge to the test and predict World Cup results, giving you the chance to win a grand prize of a holiday to South Africa for two.

Tracey Hyem, brand manager at Continental Tyres, comments: "Continental has long been a great fan of football, with our sponsorship of major tournaments such as the 2006 World Cup and 2008 Euro championships.

"With the launch of this app, fans can really get a piece of the action this summer and win great prizes, while also showing off their football knowledge to all their friends."

The Game Predictor sets you the challenge of predicting the scores for every match of the World Cup - from group stages all the way to the final - with the best armchair pundits being in with a chance of winning. However, if you don’t feel like making your own predictions, don’t worry: the app can enter random scores for you with a shake of your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Here’s how the competition works:

*If you correctly predict any match result (e.g. win, lose or draw) on any day, you will qualify for entry into the daily draw to win an official World Cup match ball

*However, every time you predict the correct scores for a match on a given day you will be entered into a grand prize draw with the chance to win a dream trip to South Africa

During the tournament, if your predictions were wrong about who would get through the groups then the correct teams will be automatically entered for you, enabling you to start your predictions again at the knock-out stages. The app also gives you the opportunity to share your predictions with your friends through Facebook and Twitter, swap tips, or just have fun comparing scores.
