Ashes Betting: Australia v England 4th Test - Easy Odds Betting Preview

“100,000 people delighted to be at the cricket because they’ve spent Christmas with people they don’t like, sun, beer and chicks with their tits out.” That is how a Victorian described the Boxing Day Test at Meblourne’s MCG, or The G as the locals call it.

[ClickPress, Mon Dec 11 2006] No matter what the state of this Ashes series, the match should be a sell out, ensuring England’s players have an experience they will never forget.
Their chances of making it even more memorable are helped by the fair nature of the MCG pitch.

It offers something to batsmen and bowlers and in the past has been know to have a green tinge which should encourage England’s seamers.

Indeed in previous Down Under tours when Australia were dominant it was always considered the venue where England had the best chance of causing an upset.
England have won a healthy 19 Tests from 52 played and their collective bowling average (cost of runs per wicket) is 29.51, which is only marginally worse than the hosts’ figure at 27.40.

The tourists’ last two matches have been close affairs here. England went down by 12 runs and then by five wickets as Australia, needing 107 to win, lived up to their reputation as a side which falters when chasing a small target.

Justin Langer got a double century in that match and could go well again while last time out Mike Hussey hit a century to help defeat South Africa by a whopping 184-run margin. That was the Aussies’ eighth-straight win at the MCG.
Both sides are expected to play two spinners. Hell, Australia could even play three if Andrew Symonds retains his place in the squad.

Against South Africa last year Symonds, Shane Warne and Stuart MacGill took six of the ten first innings wickets to fall between them and seven in the second.
