EMERALD ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF ‘2005 EMERALD LITERATI NETWORK AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE’

From: Emerald Group Publishing
Published: Thu Jul 07 2005

John Peters, editorial director at Emerald, said, "As in previous years we have presented our awards in recognition of some extremely high quality submissions. The ‘outstanding papers’ commendations are the centrepiece of the awards and are often chosen following consultation amongst the journal’s editorial team. Many editorial team members are eminent academics or managers, so winning authors are assured that their paper was one of the most impressive pieces of work that the team has seen over the past year. "

Awards are presented in six categories:
 Outstanding papers – one from each journal plus up to three ‘highly commended’ awards from the last year’s volume.
 Outstanding special issue - reflects the efforts made by the Guest Editor, the calibre and range of authors and an issue that presents leading-edge concepts but still maintains a broad appeal to the readership.
 Emerald partnership awards - explores new business models, beyond traditional journal subscriptions, to increase the accessibility of a range of knowledge resources that are otherwise unavailable to many individual professionals. We encourage our authors and editors to become involved in this initiative by suggesting organisations that could become partners, thereby increasing the dissemination and citation of your work in the process. A recent trial involving a major international professional association increased the use of relevant articles by over four times.
 ASLIB/Emerald award – presented jointly by Emerald and Aslib, the Association for Information Management. The winning paper is selected by Aslib’s own Groups and Branches network for the best paper published during 2004 by of any of the six Aslib-Emerald journals.
 Outstanding service awards – to mark editorial contributors’ many years of service and support for their journals.
 Leading editors – acknowledge the high commitment editors have to their journals and their efforts to raise and maintain the standing of the journals through nurturing new authors, networking and sharing ideas with other journal editors and promoting the journal at conferences.

There is also a listing of the ‘Citations of Excellence Top Fifty for 2004’ – the top 50 articles to have appeared in Emerald Management Reviews during 2004, as chosen by the Emerald Management Reviews independent review board.
