– Philippines gears up for National Heroes Day celebrations in August

National Heroes Day was first celebrated in 1931 and is one of the most popular celebrations in the Philippine festival calendar. The day commemorates nine historical figures, one woman and eight men, whose bravery and commitment to democracy during the long fight for independence was considered exceptional. .
