AIESEC Chennai Quiz and Recruitment

AIESEC is the world’s largest entirely student run, voluntary, non-profit, and non-political association spread over across 89 countries and territories with a membership base of 18,000 students in over 800 universities. AIESEC holds consultative status with the United Nations.

They organized the first ever general knowledge quiz for college going students in Chennai. It attracted over 200 students from various colleges in the city on the 9th of July 2005 at Vani Mahal. Prizes worth Rs.45, 000/- were given out to the finalists and the audience. Gift Vouchers from My Kinda Place, Landmark and cycles from TI Cycles (Murugappa Group of Companies) were given out. Slash Support, a leading technical support firm was the platinum sponsor for the event. Ramkumar and Ajay, two young men waiting to get into college beat Akashdeep Ray and Niranjan Kumar (of Hindustan College of Engineering) to win the first place, which was a gift voucher worth Rs. 10,000/- from Landmark, a gift voucher worth Rs. 1,000/- from My Kinda Place and 2 bicycles from TI Cycles. Aparna Sriram was a young budding quiz master herself and was able to take the quiz to an exciting finale with a tie for the 1st and 2nd place.

This Quiz was organized by AIESEC as a prelude to their Recruitment. As such their aim is to provide a platform for young people to discover and develop their potential to have a positive impact on the society. They create this platform by putting them through the AIESEC Leadership Experience and providing 5000 leadership positions apart from giving them an opportunity to go for their Work Abroad Program. They have over 1 million successful alumni till date. The AIESEC Leadership Experience is the ideal path of an AIESEC member which starts off with a formal introduction to the organization and then begins to take on responsibility in some area. They then have the option to take on leadership, work abroad, or both. The final step is to head to the future – to take the skills, inspiration, and networks from AIESEC to have a positive impact in society.

Young people join AIESEC to develop their leadership potential & Organizational skills, develop a global network of like-minded individuals, gain an international, perspective, and experience diversity, turning theory from class into practical business behaviour and enjoy leading and managing a diverse organisation. Specific skills that one can gain from AIESEC are Marketing skills, Negotiation skills, Sales skills, Human Resource management, Management skills, Communication skills, Leadership skills, Time Management skills, Presentation skills, networking skills etc.,
