UNCUT & UNCENSORED: Marketing Controversy

At one time, entertainment deemed explicit was regulated to a small, niche market, however a shift in popular culture tastes and savvy marketing on the part of creative artists and entrepreneurs has allowed for this genre of entertainment to flourish in the mainstream. NETWORKSHOPS – SACRED MGMT, an entertainment education organization, has invited entertainment professionals share their candid opinions about the marketing of this type of entertainment.

Controversial entertainment has become more visible at our local newsstands, in the video section of our large retail stores, on our cable & satellite systems and on even on the Broadway stage. Creative artists and entrepreneurs are producing cutting edge works in spoken word performances, books, magazines, film and music. And while the music industry, motion picture industry and magazine publications have seen a decline in sales; controversial entertainment is reaching a wider audience and experiencing record sales growth. This event is an open discussion forum where invited panelists and attendees will engage in an evening of dialogue and networking to dissect this present trend.

Lasana of MTV Networks is the moderator for the evening. The esteemed panelists will include: Tiffany Chiles (CEO of Don Diva Magazine), Jessica Holter (Founder of the Punany Poets), Sadiqua Williams (Publisher of HUSH Magazine), Teri Woods (Entrepreneur and Author of True to the Game & Dutch), Sherise Malachi (International Promotions Coordinator at Atlantic Records), Ishmael Miller (Account Executive of Music and Entertainment at A&D Design Studio) and Gwen (Spokes Model who has appeared in BET – Top 25 & King Magazine).
