ChemImage Corporation will be presenting research results on a new inkjet printer discrimination technique involving hyperspectral imaging (HSI) at the 6th EDEWG Conference, a meeting of the European Document Experts Working Group, in Dubrovnik, Croatia from Sept. 21-24.

A part of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI), the European Document Experts Working Group supports ENFSI’s forensic document examination objectives. Held every two years, the 6th EDEWG Conference will offer workshops, scientific sessions and posters illustrating new developments in toner and ink examination.

The presentation, titled "Discrimination of Inkjet Printer Ink," will examine HSI’s ability to link documents printed from different inkjet printers to a common manufacturer or ink formulation. Initial research found that the cyan, yellow and magenta components of each type of printer brand have their own unique spectroscopic responses.

HSI takes conventional photography and imaging methods to the next level by adding a spectroscopic basis for sample analysis. The result enables the identification and enhancement of contrast between chemically different materials.

In addition to the presentation, ChemImage will also be exhibiting throughout the conference’s duration.
