SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - July 27, 2005 - Revinetix, a pioneer in Disk2Disk2Disk™ backup solutions, today officially introduced the Sentio™ series of total disk-based RAID 5 network backup appliances, tailored to the needs of small and medium enterprises (SME) with five to 500 users. The Sentio product family enables network and IT administrators to replace traditional tape backup devices with a single, highly reliable and easy-to-use disk-based appliance that bundles all of the software and removable serial ATA (SATA) disks required to "disaster proof" an entire network.

"While tape is the traditional backup method, tape is also notoriously prone to failure, slow to back up and difficult to restore," said Revinetix VP of Sales Brian Clark. "With Sentio, on the other hand, Revinetix offers the reliability and speed of completely disk-based storage together with off-site archiving and intuitive software, yet with a total cost of ownership (TCO) of only about half a penny per megabyte stored."

The Sentio line integrates powerful software to manage and automate backup and recovery functions for every user on the network. Scheduled automated backups can be done to the desktop level for every machine connected to the network from a single Sentio appliance, even those connected through a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Sentio supports all major operating systems in use today and includes a startup wizard that enables even a novice user to setup the appliance in less then an hour.

The Sentio currently supports storage capacities up to 8 Terabytes (compressed) of data storage (4 Terabytes raw capacity). It is available in a 1U, 2U, 3U or 4U rack-mount chassis with dual high speed Intel Xeon processors, Gigabit and Fast Ethernet controllers, dual load-sharing redundant power supplies, and a hardware RAID card.

KEY FEATURES
• Up to 16 hot-swappable serial ATA drives for unlimited off-site storage and greater reliability and speed compared to traditional tape backup systems
• Hardware-based RAID controller(s) defaulted to RAID 5
• No per-client licensing fees; Site license enables backup/recovery for entire network
• Shorter backup windows (2x to 4x faster than tape) to meet recovery time objectives (RTOs)
• Secure Web-based admin interface enables access from any browser on the LAN/WAN
• Simple data restoration and complete Bare-Metal Restore (BMR) software
• Automated job backup scheduling and prioritizing
• Supports multiple concurrent backup and restore jobs in parallel
• Archived files tracked and located by database catalog
• Data compression to maximize storage capacity
• Supports email notifications/SNMP MIBs (Management Information Databases)
• Replication/Synchronization software included; replicate data from one Sentio to another Sentio located off-site

This announcement comes on the heels of Revinetix unveiling its desktop form factor backup appliance line, the Volo™, which comes with 400GB of capacity for under $3,000.

Price and Availability
The Sentio is available now in four different models with capacities up to 8Terabytes compressed. Pricing ranges from $8,995 to $29,995. One-year return-to-depot hardware warranty and software maintenance agreements are included. Unlike many competitors’ backup solutions, Revinetix offers a site license rather then a per-client license fee, allowing every user on the network access to the backup appliance for the same cost.
