Beat The Vat Man – Hurry, Buy Now Before The VAT Increase

With the announcement by the government back in June this year that VAT is to rise to 20% to help offset the UK deficit, Better Bathrooms is advising its customers to hurry and buy their new bathroom suites and bathroom furniture before the rise comes into effect on January 4th 2011.

With many people already struggling financially because of the recession and job cuts, the 2.5% rise in VAT has been seen as a further setback for low income families. However, Better Bathrooms, the online retailer, is urging its customers to buy as fast as possible and for them to take advantage of their already heavily discounted prices, before the VAT increase occurs.

The ‘beat the vat man’ concept is now being rolled out across the Better Bathrooms website, www.betterbathrooms.com, in its stores and also in its latest round of newspaper advertisements. The idea features a quirky cartoon character with a black tie and a black briefcase, stamped with £ symbols, with the simple of message of ‘hurry, but now before the VAT increase’.

Speaking about the strong message, a spokesman for Better Bathrooms said "We really want our customers to take full advantage of the lower VAT rate whilst they can. Unfortunately, the rise is completely out of our control so the least we can do is alert our customers to what is going to be happening and try and save them some money on their bathroom purchase where we can. We have always offered great discounts on all our bathroom products and want to offer the lowest prices possible, so if we can save even one customer paying an extra 2.5% on their new bathroom suite by bringing the purchase forward slightly, the Beat The VAT Man concept will have achieved its goal."
