The Kolkata International Book Fair is the city’s most eagerly awaited cultural event and offers something for everyone. The scope of this year’s event will go way beyond books, with visitors enjoying a world food market, employment fairs and other entertainment.

The event will celebrate its 35th anniversary this year and the focal theme will be the USA. Authors will be invited form America to read excerpts from their publications and discuss their latest works. Visitors can enjoy intimate talks with American writers at different locations around the venue.

The expo will be organised by The Publishers and Booksellers Guild and attendees to the fair will find everything from religious and academic books to the latest offerings from international fiction authors.

The show will take place at Milan Mela Prangan in West Bengal and will bring together publishers, writers and buyers from all over India. The event looks set to be bigger than last year, which drew 1.6 million visitors into the city. Delegates will check into a hotel in Kolkata.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at commented: "Last year’s International Book Fair drew over a million delegates and the city’s hotels were fully booked. Those looking for a room close to the event should search online to check availability and guarantee the best rates"
