The two-week festival is intended as a celebration of the Irish language and will feature a wide range of Gaeilge themed events and activities aimed at facilitating the use of, and promoting the learning of the language in the run up to Ireland’s national day of celebration on St Patrick’s Day.

The latter part of the festival will coincide with five days of St Patrick’s Day celebrations on the streets of the city, offering an enticing opportunity for the committed Eirophile to immerse themselves in the culture of this country.

Lek Boonlert, head of marketing at said: "There is going to be so much going on in Galway in the first half of March, with this event and St Patrick’s Day celebrations as well as the numerous attractions always on offer in the city. We expect that accommodation in the area could become harder to find around this time for those who have not planned ahead. For this reason we are advising anyone hoping to travel to Galway for the Seachtain na Gaeilge, or any other event, to ensure they book their preferred hotels in Galway well in advance to ensure they are not disappointed".
