Formerly known as the Khettarama Stadium, the R Premadasa Stadium serves a major Sri Lankan cricket venue and plays host to important international matches. The stadium was the brainchild of the late Sri Lanka President, Ranasinghe Premadasa. The facility seats 35,000 spectators and is the biggest stadium in Sri Lanka. A cricket training centre sits behind the stadium and includes 16 practice pitches and dormitories for academy attendees.
