Hannelore R. Leavy, chair and executive director of the Day Spa Association, has announced that Iatria Day Spa in Raleigh, N.C. has been selected as the Day Spa Association’s 2007 Distinguished Day Spa Award recipient. The award was presented during the annual Charity and Award Celebration held in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Day Spa Expo & Business Forum at the Mandalay Bay Conference Center in Las Vegas Feb. 21-23. The expo is dedicated specifically to day spas and is designed to serve owners, operators and directors.
A spa must be accredited within the Day Spa Association and submit a synopsis of why they should be selected to be considered for the Distinguished Day Spa Award. Applications are reviewed and the winner is selected by the Day Spa Association Advisory Board based on spa menu, quality of service and commitment, continuing education available to entire staff, commitment to create a nurturing atmosphere for clients and personnel, and commitment to community, environment, humanity and the spa industry. Iatria is one of 24 spas to have met the Day Spa Association’s strict guidelines for spa accreditation.
Other accredited spas competing for this year’s award included: The Brass Rose Spa & Salon in Blairstown, N.J.; Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, N.C.; Serenity – The Rejuvenating Day Spa in Overland Park, Kan.; and Wolf Mountain Day Spa in Grass Valley, Calif.
