Published: Fri Mar 11 2011

Held between 30th April and 8th May in the Fortezza da Basso, Art 2011 – The International Handicraft Trade Fair is the longest running event of its kind in Italy and every year features one of the largest collections of work in the country.

More than 800 artists are expected to take part in 2011 coming from backgrounds in sculpture, clothing design, furniture making to even professional chefs. The show is a representation of creativity and this is witnessed in the large number of products on display, many of which are meticulously made by hand.

Visitors are able to see stands dedicated to home interiors including decorative pieces and fabrics, to other areas focused on jewellery designs or even health and beauty products. Work will also be featured from Italian craftsmen from the famous Italian fashions to the country’s world renowned cooking and visitors can buy many fresh ingredients to create their own masterpieces in the kitchen at home.

The show regularly attracts audience numbers of more than 170,000 and as a result finding a hotel Florence Airport can be much more difficult during the week.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Finding availability is going to be extremely difficult due to the number of visitors that attend and early confirmation with hotels is highly recommended."
