DirectRooms.com – Competitors head to Sabah for the challenge of a lifetime on 22 to 24 April

Published: Tue Mar 15 2011

The event is the oldest in South East Asia and takes place in the centre of Borneo. People look on in awe at all those that have managed to complete the multi-day challenge. This year looks set to be as thrilling as the last 10 and will involve a 150 kilometre race spanning three days from the 22 – 24 April 2011. Competitors will race on foot, cycle mountain bikes and raft down Borneo’s winding rivers in a bid to pip their completion to the winning post.

There is just one category, with all entrants racing on the same course, and it is up to each individual to navigate from one check point to the next. Although there are strict cut-off points for each leg of the race in order to ensure that a steady pace is maintained throughout the race.

Competitors will travel from over 18 countries to complete, a majority coming from Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.

Competitors and their families will likely check into hotels in Kota Kinabalu Airport where they can be close to the action which will take them through the spectacular scenery of North Borneo, against a backdrop of the mighty Mount Kinabalu, as they compete with maps and compasses.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The event is the most prestigious in its category and will leave competitors with life-long memories of an immense challenge. Competitors should book online in advance to ensure that they have somewhere to rest after the three-day challenge."
