Plexus increases software engineering capabilities at European Design Centre

Plexus, the design services and manufacturing solutions company, has extended its in-house technical capabilities by adding two energetic software engineers to its team. Samie Ghauri, 26, and John Reid, 27, both live in Scotland and will be based at the Plexus European Design Centre in Livingston. In addition Plexus is also actively seeking to recruit a further two engineers with mechanical and hardware design skills.

"Ghauri and Reid have quickly acquired skills with a wide range of tools, operating systems and integration challenges, and will add extra value to customer projects as Plexus continues to grow throughout Europe," said Andy Allen, VP Europe, Plexus.

Samie Ghauri holds an MSc in System Level Integration from the Institute of System Level Integration in Livingston, Scotland, as well as a first degree in Mechatronics from the National University of Sciences and Technology in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Prior to joining Plexus, Ghauri completed a two-year contract as the sole software and firmware engineer for a Scottish start-up developing automatic irrigation control systems, with responsibilities including software design, reliability, documentation, maintenance and customisation. Ghauri has also led Pakistan’s entry at the Asia-Pacific International Robot Contest, winning one of the Toyota Awards presented for the best performing robots.

John Reid is a graduate of Heriot Watt University, holding a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science. He has completed the BAE Systems graduate development programme, fulfilling software development roles on a number of projects for overseas customers. Reid’s experience of high-reliability software design and COTS real time operating systems will add value to safety-critical projects at Plexus. He is also skilled in embedded C, C++ and Ada, as well as PC-based software development, which further extends the support and expertise he will offer to Plexus customers targeting a wide variety of markets and applications.
