Dr. Ambedkar was born on the 14th April 1889. Every year, Indians observe his birthday to celebrate his immense contribution to the Indian society, in particular his role as chief architect of the Indian Constitution. Born into a poor Mahar (untouchable) caste family, Ambedkar overcame numerous social and financial obstacles to obtain a college education. He then spent much of his life campaigning for political right and social freedom for India’s lower classes. Many Indians and even some from further afar, travel great distances to take part in special celebrations on this day every year.

The majority of the celebrations that take place on the 14th April are not on a small scale. Huge rallies and processions take place through the streets of India and many cultural programs are organised and mass prayers take place throughout India. Statues of the great man are decorated and political leaders and famous people all offer obligations to him.

Many people use the 14th April as a good opportunity to travel to Bangalore to celebrate the birth of Dr. Ambedkar. Visitors to Bangalore wishing to take part in the celebrations but also wanting to relax are advised to book into Bangalore Airport hotels early.

Visitors are advised to stay in one of the many Bangalore Airport hotels, which can provide a wide range of room types and accommodation that will fit any budget.
