DirectRooms.com – Take Part in Walk to Work Week in Luton on 9 May 2011

Published: Thu Apr 07 2011

Five major employers in the town took part in last year’s scheme and it was such a success that the scheme is being repeated and it is hoped that more companies will encourage their staff to take part this year.

The event is being run by Sustrans Active Travel Luton in conjunction with the local borough council.

Those who are taking part can register their interest online for more details of the scheme. Each employee will be able to record the number of steps taken or miles walked so that they can see the difference they are making to their lifestyle and the environment.

Lek Boonlert, Head of Marketing at DirectRooms.com, is very excited to see how this event will progress. In this day and age, where everyone is concerned about the environment, choosing a week to walk to work is not only better for the employees’ health and fitness but also leaves less of a carbon footprint.

Global warming is an issue that affects us all. If we leave behind our cars for what is often a journey of only a few miles then that means less pollution in the atmosphere. When visitors are staying in the area and need a hotel, Luton has several to choose from. There are hotels to suit all budgets and needs.
