DirectRooms.com – Participate CIP Summer 2011 Program during 21 May to 4 June 2011

Published: Fri Apr 08 2011

The Sorrento programme will place students in scenic Southern Italy right on the Bay of Naples. Cliffs overlook the Mediterranean Sea while villages like Positano, Amalfi and Alerno dot the coast. The rich history of the area offers students lessons to take in even outside of the classroom. Cheap Sorrento hotels for those looking to take part in the programme will be available, but will need to be booked in advance.

The course offered this summer is Comparative Law of Civil Procedure, taught by Andrea Seielstan, a professor at the School of Law. The course, MPA 593, counts for three credits and includes an examination of various justice systems, including those of America and Europe. Special emphasis will be placed on the British and Italian justice systems.

Students should leave the course with an understanding of the basic principles supporting these systems of law, as well as the differences that mark each. The course is recommended as an elective for law students.

Along with these lessons, students get a chance to experience the friendly and historic streets of Sorrento. While a modern city today, it also sits near a number of historic sites like Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, Naples and the isles of Capri. At the same time, it has museums, festivals, theatres and other modern entertainments.
