WHETHER good, bad or ugly – donate your old phones and help alleviate world poverty reads the slogan for the first ever NATIONAL mobile phone amnesty.

Established by ActionAid Recycling, the amnesty will run throughout the entire month of October - with some really fantastic prizes up for grabs for the top 3 donors. Check out www.mobileamnesty.co.uk for details and register today to be in with your chance of winning!

ActionAid Recycling is an official fundraising organisation for ActionAid; the UK charity and International development agency.

By collecting old, unwanted mobile phones, ActionAid Recycling can then sell these otherwise waste items to be reused or recycled – depending on what kind of condition they’re in. The proceeds from these sales will then help to fund ActionAid’s development programme in over 30 of the poorest countries in the world.

Added to this is the fact that many of your donated mobiles – repairable or in good working order – will end up being used in countries where landline communications are poor.

Prize or no prize, here’s your chance to help someone far less privileged than you!

Registering to take part couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is visit www.mobileamnesty.co.uk and complete the online registration form. You will then receive an email detailing how to obtain an amnesty information pack.

ActionAid Recycling is in particular trying to appeal to people to set up their own mobile phone amnesties in the workplace… giving colleagues the opportunity to bring in their old handsets from home.

Whatever your motivation to register, your old mobile phones can really help to make a difference.
