Revinetix Now Makes RAID 5 Disaster Recover Protection for Small and Medium Businesses Even More Affordable

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - September 20, 2005 - Revinetix, a pioneer in Disk2Disk2Disk™ backup solutions, today announced that it has reduced the price on its entry-level RAID 5 Disk2Disk (D2D) backup appliance by 33% to $5,995. Now even more affordable for small and medium sized business, the Sentio1000 from Revinetix provides 500GB of raw data storage (1TB Compressed) – complete with all of the recovery and management software preloaded to back up an entire network.

Featuring a high performance processor, redundant power supplies, 250GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives, Gigabit and Fast Ethernet controllers, and RAID 5 hardware, the Sentio1000 enables IT administrators to easily automate and reliable perform the backup process for an entire computer network – all from a single device. The $3,000 price reduction on this appliance is designed to enable more businesses to replace traditional tape backup devices with high speed, hot swappable hard disks that can be easily removed and stored off-site for disaster recovery measures.

"While tape is the traditional backup method, tape is also notoriously prone to failure, slow to back up and difficult to restore," said Revinetix VP of Sales Brian Clark. "With our Sentio line, on the other hand, Revinetix offers the reliability and speed of completely disk-based storage together with off-site archiving and intuitive software, yet now with a total cost of ownership (TCO) of only about half a penny per megabyte stored."

The Sentio1000 comes in a standard 1U rack mount chassis and is part of the Sentio™ line of backup appliances. The Sentio family enables scheduled automated backups to be done to the desktop level for every machine connected to a network - even those connected through a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Sentio supports all major operating systems in use today and includes a startup wizard that enables even a novice user to setup the appliance in less then an hour.

The Sentio currently supports storage capacities up to 9.2 Terabytes (compressed) of data storage (4.8 Terabytes raw capacity). The product line is available in a 1U, 2U, 3U or 4U rack-mount chassis. Pricing now ranges from $5,995 to $34,995 for the different models. One-year return-to-depot hardware warranty and software maintenance agreements are included. Unlike many competitors’ backup solutions, Revinetix offers a site license rather then a per-client license fee, allowing every user on the network access to the backup appliance for the same cost.
